Trained and Bred by the trainer - Sixties Chic wins a thriller for Box 41
It’s sickening isn’t it?
He’s training AND breeding them now and, as if to add insult to injury (a hangover actually), your website news correspondent was in Marbella, staggering around a golf course and sampling the culture with the sort of enthusiasm that is now laced with regret.
That’s why I’m posting this latest winning report four days after SIXTIES CHIC’s last gasp success in the Class 5 fillies’ handicap at Wolverhampton on Friday night.
It was a thrilling finish though - as thrilling as I am resentful really, because Charlie Bishop mugged everyone as SIXTIES CHIC pipped both Star of Lady M and Starsong in the shadow of the post to record a victory by a nose and a short head having rattled home in the closing stages of the six furlong contest to win at 33/1.
Thirty three to one.
Let that sink in.
The taxi from Gibraltar was the best part of a hundred quid and there I was, staring at the Racing Post app with incredulity before remembering that I was at Norman Court Stud at the birth of SIXTIES CHIC and didn’t have a penny on.
Then…. THEN - I remember that ‘J. Channon’ also bred her.
Sure, she’s shown promise in her three year old campaign that only really got going in October, but whilst I’m delighted for her owners in the great gang of Box 41, I think they know me and love me well enough to forgive me for not including any trainer quotes here and now.
I can’t bear his smugness to be honest.
Well done if you were on.
We keep having winners (that I never back).
That’s the main thing.
I guess.
