Back-to-Back Wins Highlight an Exceptional Week for the Team

Last week marked a fantastic run for the team at West Ilsley Stables, celebrating four winners in four days, including an impressive Saturday double.

The winning streak began on Thursday, 12th June, when Banksman broke his maiden at Yarmouth. Despite still showing signs of greenness in the final furlong and drifting slightly left, the three-year-old displayed clear progress from his recent run at Brighton. Under a strong ride from Edward Greatrex, Banksman held on gamely to win by a head.

Friday the 13th proved lucky for us as Last Shamardal claimed his first turf victory at Sandown Park. Thriving on the uphill finish over a mile, he overcame a troubled rum - having to switch right in the final furlong - and showed great determination to take the lead with 110 yards to go. He stayed on strongly to record his third win of the season.

The success continued on Saturday, 14th June, with a fantastic Saturday double.

First, Urban Lion shrugged off a 3lb rise in the weights to land his maiden turf victory in the “Read Meg Nicholls’ Blog at betmgm.co.uk” Class 2 Handicap at Sandown Park. Another well-judged ride by Edward Greatrex saw him deliver for owner Jonathan Mitchell.

Later that afternoon, Pomme Pomme secured her fourth career victory at Bath under Rose Dawes. Despite a 5lb rise, she made all the running and pulled clear in the closing stages to win comfortably by a length.

It was a week that really showed what the West Ilsley team is made of - hard work, great rides, and horses hitting top form when it counts.
