Excellent Believe Impresses at Nottingham as Ferrous Lands Class 2 Hat-Trick at Newcastle.

May the 9th saw a standout performance from owner Jaber Abdullah’s 3 year old gelding, Excellent Believe, to win the Oddschecker Free Bets Novice Stakes at Nottingham over a mile under a confident ride from jockey Neil Callan.

Having finished a close up second last time when running greenly the gelding looked to have learnt plenty from his first outing. He poached the lead early when turning into the straight and ran on strongly to the line to win by 5 lengths unchallenged by his rivals. He looks a nice prospect for mile handicaps in the future.

Ferrous made the long journey to Newcastle on Sunday the 11th of May worthwhile when taking the Border Minstrel Family Fun Day Class 2 Handicap, making it a hat - trick of class 2 wins so far this year for the 5 year old.

Drawn wide in stall two and having to challenge wider than ideal, he stuck his head out willingly to see off his rivals in the last 110 yards and kept on to win impressively for owner Recycled Products Limited and jockey Callum Rodeiguez. He'll be worth his place in Listed company going forwards.

Jack Reports:

‘’Delighted with Excellent Believe, we always thought he was a nice horse but has taken a while to mature. We will look at another novice before we get a handicap mark and hopefully he can keep progressing through the year.’’

‘’Ferrous was brilliant from the worst part of the track and he was very impressive. His handicapping days are over and we will now aim him at the Chipchase back at Newcastle. ‘’
